ARD.de Goes Live with Next Generation Portal Based on CoreMedia Web Content Management Solution
Relaunch of ARD Online Includes Greater Support for HTML5 Mobile Site Templates and Responsive Web Design
HAMBURG and SAN FRANCISCO, May 23, 2013 — CoreMedia, a leading Web Content Management (WCM) company, has announced that ARD, the German public broadcasting service, has upgraded its ARD.de online portal using the CoreMedia WCM platform. In addition to a new, modern online look for ARD.de, the broadcaster has optimized its Web properties for a broad range of mobile devices, and also refreshed its online technical infrastructure. CoreMedia has implemented its innovative Web content management system to power ARD’s major Web portal going forward. The CoreMedia solution offers support for both HTML5 and responsive Web design. It also features CoreMedia Studio, which will give the ARD.de online team a powerful editorial hub that is not only easy to use but will also save considerable time, thanks to simpler content reuse and management.
"ARD.de is our major online portal, providing access to individual public broadcasting companies' websites as well as to communal online services," explained ARD's head of technology and development, André Berthold. "Implementing a next generation portal was clearly a challenge, however the new CoreMedia platform gives us a flexible and powerful structure for the years to come, while also delivering a real step forward in terms of the technology we can use.”
ARD.de's chief editor Sönke Vaihinger added: "The new CoreMedia technology provides the foundation for the next stage of our online development – launching CoreMedia Studio as a new hub for our editorial team. Because our users now access ARD.de content from a range of different devices including tablets and smartphones, it’s important for us to facilitate the preparation and publication of content across all platforms. CoreMedia Studio helps automate this process, leaving our editors free to focus on their core journalistic tasks.”
ARD.de has been using CoreMedia solutions for more than ten years, and joins other leading media organizations – including ZDF, N24 and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in using the Hamburg-based company's award-winning WCM solution.
