T-Com Launches Multi-Channel Sales Solution Based on CoreMedia CMS

Comprehensive knowledge management for sales and distribution of fixed-line telephony products and services

Hamburg, 22nd June 2005 – T-Com, Europe’s largest telecommunications company, has launched its complex sales and distribution information system on the basis of CoreMedia CMS. The CMS platform serves the company's four central sales channels: direct sales, indirect sales via retail partners, wholesale distribution, and sales of fixed-line systems. The new multi-channel sales tool serves as a source of product information, handles orders, validates purchases and processes retailer commissions. The first two CoreMedia-CMS-based systems to be launched are PRODI, a product and services tool, and VHD (Vertrieb, Handel, Distribution: Sales, Retail, Distribution), both of which will be implemented by T-Systems' own resources. Two further systems for other sales channels are currently under development.

"Our organizational processes gain efficiency from the automated editing processes that CoreMedia CMS delivers. The work of our editorial staff becomes much easier. And for the members of our sales teams, the new portal is more clearly structured and easier to use," said Thomas Eckert, T-System's Head of Project Center ECM Portals & Integration.

Around 4,000 customer service agents use PRODI as a central source for up-to-date, detailed information about T-Com products. The high-performance CMS application handles 20,000 requests and 1,300,000 transactions daily. The second tool, VHD, is used by more than 8,000 employees of external sales partners, offering T-Com product information. Special personalization features facilitate trouble-free operation, while complex editorial workflows ensure that data is kept up-to-date.

Sören Stamer, founder and CEO of CoreMedia, pointed out the strategic potential of CoreMedia CMS: "The T-Com sales and distribution information system shows how businesses can apply our knowledge management systems for their own process innovations. When it comes to dealing with growing amounts of digital information, it is increasingly important for businesses to establish well-structured data management and clear control of editing processes."

CoreMedia CMS has already proven itself within Deutsche Telekom AG, serving as the technology platform for T-Online’s Web and mobile portals. T-Online has been using CoreMedia's Content Management System successfully since 2000.
