eGovernment is part and parcel of the information societyBy introducing IT-based systems, the public sector can perform more efficiently and work more effectively. The goal is clear - transparent, efficient services provided, around the clock and with no delays. Standards for public-sector servicesGermany’s federal government launched its BundOnline 2005 Initiative in September 2000. Since then, numerous federal government services have gone online. The deployment of multiple-use basic components and uniform standards have helped to avoid work being done twice over and parallel developments. These standards were laid down in a so-called SAGA document (Standards and Architectures in e-government Applications). Streamlining processes with CoreMedia CMSCoreMedia CMS was chosen as the standard software for Germany’s federal authorities and is specifically recommended by SAGA. This software is ideally suited for implementation in complex public authority environments and makes barrier-free websites, intranets and extranets possible. Government Site Builder packageGermany’s federal government uses a content management infrastructure known as Government Site Builder that was custom-configured for the public sector. The infrastructure based on CoreMedia CMS was implemented on the government’s behalf by the system provider Materna, a CoreMedia integration partner.
Numerous authorities at a federal and state level have already implemented e-government services with CoreMedia. CoreMedia CMS is also successfully used by state and local authorities as well as by public-sector companies. |
