CeBIT: CoreMedia Presents New Version 4.2 of its Smart Content Technology with Expanded Functionalities

Flexible support of process-oriented workflows / Integration of standard software

CoreMedia today launched the new version 4.2 of its Smart Content Technology, thereby underlining its position as leading provider of content management systems. The latest version of its Smart Content Technology has been highly optimized for the demands of process-oriented workflows. The new functionalities and enhancements include preview-based editing, complete barrier freedom according to the requirements of the German government initiative BundOnline 2005, as well as a very high integration level for Microsoft Office and .NET applications.

"Proven across multiple industries, our Smart Content Technology is a content management solution for highest demands," said Sören Stamer, Founder and CEO of CoreMedia. "With the new release 4.2 of our Smart Content Technology, we want to further expand our market leadership for sophisticated content management technology and enable companies to display all content-related processes in the enterprise on one integrated platform and to flexibly link to existing systems."

In addition, when developing the new version 4.2, the focus was on the further expansion of user friendliness, with the objective of shortening training and introduction times and therefore effectively reducing the costs for continuous support of the content.

The new functionalities of CoreMedia’s Smart Content Technology at a glance at CeBIT 2004 in Hanover, Germany, Hall 3 D09:

Preview-based editing
Through preview-based editing, multimedia content can be seen in the final presentation form as preview (WYSIWIG) already during creation. Editors navigate comfortably directly in the own website or Intranet and work in those areas where end users will find them on the website or portal. Via an intuitive context menu even complex functionalities can be edited, such as the insertion of new navigation elements in a website.

Support of process-oriented workflows
An interactive modeling tool offers a comfortable graphic illustration of all workflows, supporting workflows for the creation, clearance and publication of digital content, including the utilization of any email clients. Additionally, integration of third-party systems makes sure that, for example, ERP and transaction systems can also be directly accessed over workflows.

Personalization and usage rights
Usage rights and hierarchies can be assigned to user groups. In the Internet or Intranets, content that has been protected accordingly will then be automatically aligned with the user profiles and displayed in a personalized manner.

Complete barrier freedom
The functionalities for barrier freedom during the production of websites or portals were enhanced in accordance to the high requirements of the German government initiative BundOnline 2005, for which CoreMedia was chosen as chief content management provider. With CoreMedia's Smart Content Technology, content can therefore be prepared for, among others, release over a language-based browser. Foreign-language text passages are marked in the CMS as such and are automatically read out correctly.

Integration of Microsoft Office
Version 4.2 of CoreMedia's Smart Content Technology enables Microsoft Office integration and includes interfaces for the integration of Office applications such as Word, Excel or Outlook. For example, content is created in Word and directly inserted into further workflows within Smart Content Technology.

Support of Microsoft .NET
CoreMedia bridges the barriers between Java and .NET. The integration of .NET applications into CoreMedia Smart Content Technology with the help of CoreMedia's .NET ApplicationBridge allows a free placement of these applications within the CoreMedia application as well as the transfer of content from CoreMedia to .NET applications. This makes possible the easy integration of .NET based contact forms, search functionalities, or news ticker.
