The client: Deutsche Telekom AG More than 200,000 employees in more than 50 countries are active in the entire spectrum of telecommunications: T-Mobile delivers mobile communication to around 70 million customers world wide; T-Online provides internet access to 13.5 million customers; T-Com has more than 60 million fixed-network telephony customers, and T-Systems provides complex IT and telecommunications solutions for business clients. The challenge: change and growthThe global T.I.M.E.S. markets are seeing high-speed growth of telecommunications, information technology, media, entertainment and security. In order to compete successfully in the convergence industries on a global scale, Telekom has to engage in non-stop innovation. Flexible, highly scalable and high-performance IT solutions are essential for enabling seamless triple-play services (telephony, television and internet over a single channel). The solutions: A system on the path to successSince 2001, CoreMedia has been supporting Telekom in achieving its key objective: the development of a technological infrastructure that delivers the performance and flexibility for tomorrow's telecommunications. CoreMedia CMS, the enterprise content management system, is already being used throughout the company - and not only for the corporate website: the system is integrated in every division of Deutsche Telekom. For T-Online, the decision to move to the high performance, highly scalable CMS from CoreMedia was the result of a rapid increase in customer numbers. CoreMedia CMS enabled T-Online to rapidly and flexibly adapt to new market developments and business models, and offers personalized services for all 13.5 million registered customers. An editorial staff of 70 work with the extremely usable content management interface, ensuring that each of the one billion pages that are delivered each month are always up to date – on multiple portals simultaneously and on any end device. Furthermore, video-on-demand service, T-Online-Vision, which offers more than 4000 movies for broadband download and iTV, have been integrated into the system as clients. In 2003, T-Online successfully exploited the modular, open architecture of CoreMedia CMS to efficiently integrate Bild.T-Online.de and Bunte.T-online.de. The customer-service intranet tool, PRODI, and other internal T-Com portals have also benefited from faster, simpler editorial processes thanks to CoreMedia CMS. An editorial staff of ten administers more than 14,000 pages – one of the world's largest intranets. As a sponsor of competitive cycling, T-Mobile chose CoreMedia CMS to run its popular t-mobile-team.de website, knowing the high-performance system could master sudden spikes in traffic following a team win. Deutsche Telekom is confident of its readiness to face the challenges of the future: In every division of the corporation, CoreMedia has proven its impressive abilities. | |
