Continental AG will be relaunching its around 50 websites worldwide until the end of the year. In a three-month conception phase layout and design of the Continental websites have been revised, thus improving usability. Programming and implementation based on the content management system of CoreMedia were carried out by the IT service provider and CoreMedia Gold Partner w//Center Consulting GmbH. The Continental Corporation has been using CoreMedia CMS as the foundation of its corporate content management solution since 2001. The content technology enables Continental to efficiently manage the large number of international websites that serve the various corporation brands on a central platform, while at the same time retaining a great degree of flexibility in page layout. The Multi-Site Construction Kit, a CoreMedia partner solution from w//Center, supplies the technical foundation for the realization of the new web design – and was developed especially for this scenario. The modular layout features of the Continental component system enable Continental Internet staff to manage their website layouts within the CoreMedia CMS system, being able to keep sites compliant with design guidelines while creating new country- and language-specific versions quickly and easily. Implementation of the new Internet concept took just three months, including its integration into the existing CMS. “Through the increased use of the existing component system and through the enhancement of the flexible templates, it is now significantly easier to create new websites without incurring additional external expense”, comments Monika Andrae, Director of Online Relations at Continental and project manager, underlining the corporate synergies achieved. "However, different document types leave sufficient freedom to guarantee the individuality and thereby the recognition value of each individual site”, Andrae concludes. Willms Buhse, Executive Director of CoreMedia: “The relaunch of the Website includes not only improved usability and new features, but also a Media Center – a web application for the management and deployment of any kind of digital media, be it images, videos, product brochures or presentations. Our CMS is the ideal technology for modern services such as Media Centers – and can easily scale to support video on demand and Web TV.” About ContinentalThe Continental Corporation is a leading automobile supplier, providing brake systems, drive components, vehicle electronics, tires and technical elastomers.
