IBC: CoreMedia Introduces First Commercial Mobile TV Interoperability Test Box

First test tool for multi-ESG interoperability for MNOs

Amsterdam/Hamburg, September 7, 2006 – CoreMedia, the global provider of software solutions for convergent content business, today announced at IBC the availability of the CoreMedia Mobile TV IOP Test Box for comprehensive interoperability testing of Electronic Service Guides (ESG) and encryption for mobile TV programs.

At IBC, Mobile Zone, stand 331/Hall 12, CoreMedia is presenting the new out-of-the-box Mobile TV IOP Test Box in collaboration with the CoreMedia partners ENENSYS, EXPWAY, SUN and tvtv. The new IOP service contains the CoreMedia Mobile TV Solution pre-integrated with the necessary infrastructure components to set up a complete DVB-H broadcasting head end including a small transmitter in a box, featuring standard compliant CBMS ESG and 18Crypt Service Protection. The solution gets demonstrated on the Nokia N92 multimedia computer.

For this turnkey solution EXPWAY (www.expway.com) provided the ESG server, the key element to access TV channels and navigate through the mobile TV service offering. Additionally an IP Encapsulator and Modulator from ENENSYS (www.ENENSYS.COM) are integrated and the SUN Server runs CoreMedia CMS with the ESG management as well as CoreMedia DRM System with service protection. The program plan data used for the ESG is supplied by tvtv (www.tvtv.de).

The mobile TV testing solution provides software and hardware components for an end-to-end mobile TV infrastructure. The CoreMedia Mobile TV IOP Test Box is shipped with a defined configuration setup and can be used without any integration effort.

The CoreMedia Key and License Management System for this Mobile TV IOP Test Box is based on CoreMedia DRM. It is capable of OMA DRM 1.0, OMA DRM 2.0 and Windows Media DRM content protection, as well as key management for service protection streams for DVB-H 18Crypt. OMA BCAST support is planned in 2007.

CoreMedia is already working with the leading players in the telecommunications market for global interoperability to enable new business models in the mobile world. Numerous companies, amongst them Nokia, Motorola, QUALCOMM, Panasonic and Sony Ericsson are testing their DRM agent implementation against all OMA DRM 2.0 client conformance tests with CoreMedia to match the requirements for deploying powerful 3G services.

CoreMedia DRM is selected as the exclusive reference implementation for the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA). The DRM Test Tool provides a complete DRM environment for testing devices against the acclaimed CoreMedia DRM ROAP Server, which fully supports the officially approved specifications. The software interacts both with mobiles and with PCs, so test reports can also be viewed and commented on using a more convenient PC interface.
